Posada Santa Ana

The staff were very good, the bed was comfortable, and breakfast was great. Dinner was good, though nothing special. It works well for a stopover, with good links to the Santander ferry, about 10 miles away, and restaurants near the beach. One downside: the upstairs wooden floors creak as people walk, and the rooms are poorly insulated, so you can hear people moving around and snoring. Bring earplugs.

The building itself is lovely, but the room we got was nothing like the ones shown on the website. It was tiny, and the bed was barely large enough for me at 5ft 7in. We also ate at the restaurant one evening, and my girlfriend's pizza was stone cold in the middle, clearly straight from the freezer. I wish we'd looked at TripAdvisor before booking.

A small, friendly hotel with lovely historic character, beautiful rooms, and even an outdoor pool. I had the best night's sleep of my time in Spain here. The restaurant dinner and breakfast were good too. It's only 2km from the center of Saunces, easy enough to walk, or get there by car or taxi. A nice choice for a romantic break, family time, or a solo stay.

We booked dinner, bed and breakfast and found it tasty and very good value. The rooms were nice, and the lounge and bar had a cosy feel. It's a lovely little hotel that welcomes dogs, and it worked out perfectly as a stopover on our way to the Santander ferry.
