Hotel Aristoy-by Grupo Tribu

Right in the old town center, close to restaurants and bars, the location is great. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable, though the beds felt a little small to me. The staff are friendly, but like at many hotels in Tarifa, they're only around during the day. There's no breakfast, but coffee and tea are provided in the room. Good value for money.

The location is hard to beat, right in the heart of Tarifa, and the hotel is nicely decorated and modern. My room had a great balcony, and the cleaner was friendly and helped us leave our bags. But the basics need attention. The pool wasn't open, and its open and closed dates should be made clear since it was one reason I chose the hotel. There's no full-time reception: a very friendly man was near the entrance for about two hours, which made check-in, bag drop and asking for towels harder. The Wi-Fi was extremely slow, and I found some ants in the room and glasses. I might come back in summer, but would like to see these things improved.

The staff were lovely, and the room had a comfortable bed, a strong shower and a coffee pot. The Aristoy has been tastefully turned into a contemporary little boutique hotel. It's right in the main area, but just off the road, so it was quiet.

Our Superior room with a terrace was on Floor -1. It was large, with a modern, clean bathroom and a big terrace overlooking the interior of the block. The hotel's location near Tarifa's main church is fantastic. We arrived late, and the day manager sent clear directions for getting inside and finding our room. When we left the next morning, the manager wasn't on duty, but they kindly booked a taxi to our train in Algeciras, and it arrived early. The ride to or from the Algeciras train station was about €32-36 depending on the day. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.
