Hotel Varadero

The garden was lovely and lush, with a bit of a Bali feel, and the location right on the beach was ideal. We stayed three days in a garden bungalow and enjoyed sunsets without even stepping outside. Breakfast in the pleasant restaurant area was good, with small portions, but you could order as much as you wanted if it was included in your package. Without breakfast included, the prices were prohibitive, 7,50€ for orange juice. The room itself needed more care. Both sinks were clogged, the toilet kept running, and the lighting was too bright and white. We had only one bedside lamp. The Nespresso machine had no socket nearby, so we had to plug it in on the floor. No capsules were replenished the next day. The mini-fridge worked, but wasn’t cold inside. At arrival there wasn’t enough soap, and there were towels for only one person. One robe looked used, though another was folded on the shelf. The large window was completely see-through. The only way to get privacy was to close the curtain, which left the room dark unless you switched on that harsh light. Not great during the day. There are parties in the area, too, and the music on our first night was too loud to sleep, so we had to use earplugs. The Wi-Fi came from an outside provider with a “use once get spammer forever” setup, and we couldn’t use it because it lacked basic safety certificates. We paid 240€ a night knowing it was a 2 stars place, but it didn’t feel worth it. We stayed in seven hotels on our trip, rated 3 or 4 stars, and this was the most expensive and most disappointing. If you’re an Instagramer or YouTuber looking for a good-looking place to get lots of content of yourself, this may suit you. For value for money, even if you’re willing to pay extra for features or location, there may be better choices nearby.
