The breakfast was really good, and the staff were kind and helpful. My room was clean and pleasant, and the hotel has an elegant design. It’s a very nice boutique place in downtown Tarifa, and I’d definitely recommend it.

We had a comfortable, very clean stay at this small mom-and-pop hotel during a trip to Spain, stopping in Tarifa before a day crossing to Tangier, Morocco. It has a restaurant, though we didn’t try it. We enjoyed our time there.

If your ferry to or from Morocco is canceled, be aware that Hotel Convento Management may not offer any flexibility. Our return ferry to Tarifa was called off because of bad weather, completely outside our control, but they flatly refused to refund us and seemed not to care. To me, that felt like a cash grab, money for nothing.

The location was good, but the room was just okay. The linens smelled strongly of detergent, and there was street noise. For the quality, it felt expensive.

Tarifa’s old town is a real gem, and this was a gorgeous find. The room was comfortable despite the one-star rating. We also took the fast ferry over to Tangier.
