Cortijo Valdevaqueros

In October, we got a very nice room for the best price. Valdevaqueros beach is only a three-minute drive away, and Tarifa takes about 12 to 15 minutes by car.

The peaceful, laid-back setting and beautiful views were lovely after a day on the water. For kitesurfers, the location is ideal, just minutes from the best beaches and launch spots, and there’s secure gear storage plus plenty of room to dry equipment. From arrival, the staff, especially Christina, made us feel at home and were warm, welcoming, and ready to help. We had an incredible stay at Hotel Dulce Nombre in Tarifa. I’m honestly puzzled that it has only three stars. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting a kitesurf-friendly hotel with great service, and we’ll definitely be back.

There was an issue with the hot water, but the staff quickly moved us to another apartment and were responsive and very helpful. Problems happen, and the way they handled it really mattered. The rooms are spotless, and you can tell the hotel is well looked after, from the fresh paint and cared-for plants to the gorgeous pool. Another great experience at Hotel Dulce Nombre. The staff are pleasant and engaging. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

We loved it, especially for a quiet family break or kite surfing. Valdevaqueros beach is an eight-minute walk away, with beach bars and restaurants nearby. The breakfast buffet is lovely, as is dinner, and the pool area is very clean. There aren’t many shops nearby, and Tarifa is about 15 minutes away by taxi, costing €16 - €20. There’s ample parking if you drive. The hotel has a great family vibe, very clean rooms and common areas, and attentive staff with a good sense of humour. Fantastic value, and I can’t believe it only has three stars.
