Villas At Meliá Zahara

Our room was as expected, but the buffet put us off staying for meals. There didn’t seem to be enough staff for the number of guests, the food was bland, and several dishes had no labels. There were also lots of children running around and touching food with bare hands. We ate there on the first evening, then went elsewhere for the rest of our stay. We won’t return to this Melia hotel.

A few food labels in the restaurant were blank or missing, which made it harder to know what was on offer. The cooks were always friendly when I asked, though, and filling in the labels would make things easier. Otherwise, we had a wonderful stay. The villas are lovely, the service was great, and everyone was welcoming. The Level reception staff were especially thoughtful and checked more than once that everything was all right. Check-in and checkout were smooth, and housekeeping kept our room, the lobby, restaurant, and pool impressively clean. The beach is just a few metres away, with a beautiful sunset each evening.

Our 2yo had a blast, and the place worked really well for a family or a couple. There are green spaces, two playgrounds, pools for adults and children, and beach access. We stayed in a superior room with a garden and a Vila, both exceptional. The food was fresh and varied, with choices for kids and adults, and the staff were kind and dedicated. Thanks for making us feel so welcome. We’ll be back next year.

We paid €1700 for the weekend, so we expected better quality. The food was fine, but we were surprised that full board didn’t include soft drinks with lunch or dinner. Since we left early and missed three meals, we asked for picnic food, hoping for a nice basket of fruit and other things. Instead, we got two cans of water, two juices, two toast bread sandwiches, and two bananas. At check-in, we’d booked “teo bedrooms” for two adults and two small children, but were given two separate rooms. We were then moved to a “family room” that was outdated and not clean. We had a very bad experience and can’t recommend this hotel. It felt like a waste of money unless you don’t care about quality at all.
