Port Plaza Apartments

We liked the apartment itself: it was very clean, the bed was comfortable, the shower had great water pressure, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. The staff were friendly and helpful, though they were unavailable for long stretches each day. Breakfast was decent and worth the 9 euro per person. It’s a bit far from both the beach and city centre, especially the city, which is quite a hike. The apartment is at the edge of a neighborhood that felt rather dodgy. Parking was also tricky, since there are only 7 spaces in their garage. We had to leave the car in another garage about 10 minutes away.

A lovely place for a night or two, clean and nicely furnished. The rooms have a charming mix of old-school style and modern touches. Breakfast is included and made fresh.

Getting through the self-check-in machine, system, and door was a nightmare. It took us 1.5 hours, and the staff offered no real help. Calls ended with them hanging up, even though our stay was fully paid. They seemed offended when we asked and were dismissive, unprofessional, and unresponsive. The whole thing was stressful and unacceptable. Angelica deserves special credit. She was the only person who seemed to know what was happening and actually tried to help. The people behind the automated service let us down badly. Think again before staying at this nightmare of a place.

Our stay at Port Plaza was a disaster. The apartment was spacious and nice, but not ideally located, as it’s a bit far from the city’s attractions. We booked through the hotel website for early check-in and late check-out, and emailed to confirm both. Early check-in took some effort, but we did get in ahead of time. The next day we went for a walk and got back at 4 pm to find all our luggage had been taken out of the apartment, even though I’d told reception we’d leave at 4:30 pm. Nobody contacted us, despite having my phone number. Several things were missing, including torrones and chocolates we’d bought as gifts for friends. The cleaner said she had thrown away everything we’d left in the kitchen. The receptionist was rude, and we felt practically thrown out. I can’t recommend this aparthotel because of its total lack of security.
