Residencia Alclausell

For the three months I was doing research at URV (Rovira i Virgili University), this worked well for me because I wanted my own room and kitchen. I paid €850 a month including utilities, which felt like a really convenient deal. My studio had a street-facing balcony, a double bed and a single bed, a wardrobe, a full-length mirror, a kitchen with utensils and a fridge, plus heating. Since it was a long stay, cleaning wasn’t included, though they changed the linens. I could use the service washing machine if I asked. My partner was able to stay with me for two weeks during a visit at no extra cost. You might get a lower price through an estate agency, but they ask for proof of employment and won’t rent for less than six months.

The price per night is €57 now? What?! And they want to keep your deposit as a tuition fee. Tuition for what? There’s no elevator, and the receptionist was really unpleasant, seemed out of her mind. First thing they try is putting you in a room with a shower on the balcony and a sink beside the bed, hahaha. This is NOT a student residence. I don’t know how they managed to delete reviews older than two years, but judging from the newer ones, not much seems to have changed.

The room made the stay a letdown: it was old, had no shower gel, and there was noise all night. Worst of all, there was no air conditioning. In the middle of summer that was unbearable. The one good part was the service. The woman who checked us in and the man who checked us out were both very friendly. I absolutely wouldn’t recommend it.

The staff were quite unpleasant, and the place feels really shabby for what it costs. It was unbearable to stay in the small room: the bathroom and shower were out on the balcony, there was no air conditioning, and the old fan barely worked and didn’t cool anything down. The walls are so thin you hear everything, and there was a strong marijuana smell. I absolutely don’t recommend it.
