Las Caletas in Teguise

We spent most mealtimes and evenings out on the terrace, with so much space inside that we barely used the living and dining room. Downstairs there's another lounge area with sofas, a play space with toys, and a ping-pong table. The laundry and drying area was handy for washing swimwear and having it dry overnight. Pool towels and bathroom towels were provided. Villa Magenta has three double or twin rooms, all with plenty of wardrobe space, and one has a huge en-suite. The pool is larger than most on the complex, so it takes longer to warm up, but it's good for proper swimming. We came in a very windy April, so it might be warmer in summer. The villa was immaculate and felt secure, with an easy key-fob alarm and a safe in the main bedroom. The kitchen was sparkling clean and well organised, with enough utensils to cook dinner for our family of four. We did miss having a silicone spatula for the frying pans. Eurospar is about a 10-minute walk or 3 minutes by car, with a fresh fish counter, bakery, and a wide range of drinks, along with pretty much everything else you need. The bins are down the road toward the coast. Recycling is sorted there, with plastics, tins, card and paper, and glass in one bag, and general rubbish in the separate container. We were sent useful arrival details by email before the trip, including the exact location and where to find the keys. We only went into Costa Teguise once, to see the beach, since we had a hire car and wanted to show the kids more of the island. Parking was no problem. The villa is near the main road into CT, but as city dwellers we didn't find it noisy, despite what some other reviews said. It does look over the port and power plant. Most of the time the prevailing wind carries things away from the villa, though, as anywhere I've stayed in Lanzarote, wind can blow sand onto the pool and patio. We also enjoyed Casa Tomas, a lovely little traditional seaside restaurant about a 10-minute walk away by the nearest seafront. It serves Canarian specialities, all beautifully cooked. At less than 30EUR per person including a bottle of wine, it was a bargain.
