The location is right on the beach, and the food across the hotel is great. Pool areas are spotlessly clean. We booked a Reserve Holiday, and it was worth the extra cost. The Reserve pool and its own bar for food and drinks were fantastic, and the Reserve lounge was a peaceful place to sit with coffee or a glass of cava. The concierge service was top notch. Most of all, the staff make this hotel: every person seemed to love their work and was willing to go out of their way to make the stay memorable. We’ll be back.

We stayed for 8 days and 7 nights in a standard ocean-facing room overlooking both the sea and pool. It wasn’t very large, but it was more than adequate for us, even with all our luggage. The resort itself is huge, and the location, architecture and design are beautiful. On my husband’s birthday they left a bottle of Cava and a note in the room, which was thoughtful. Rahul was amazing, checking in regularly to see how we were doing and making us feel well looked after. On our second day, he got us into the mojito class and arranged for everyone to sing Happy Birthday in English and Spanish to my husband. It was such a lovely touch. The buffet restaurant, Malva, had themed nights that gave us good variety. Of the à la carte restaurants, Samira was my favourite by far, with a phenomenal atmosphere and very good food. Capella was my second favourite. The resort is calm and relaxing, with a live band every night, though entertainment options were limited. I think a DJ at Ginger Bar would really lift the evening atmosphere. I was disappointed by the spa and personally wouldn’t go back. My massage felt more like oil rubbing than a proper massage. We had booked hot stone and deep tissue treatments, but mine wasn’t hot stone and my husband’s wasn’t deep tissue, which was frustrating for what we paid. Getting detailed receipts for insurance reimbursement was also extremely difficult. I eventually had to copy leadership on emails before they sent them. At the pools, you have to walk to The Shack yourself to get drinks, rather than staff coming around to take orders as at many all-inclusive resorts. Service at Malva and Ginger could also be quite slow at times, especially for drinks and water. I’d assume staffing levels may be low compared with the number of guests. Despite those service frustrations, the resort’s beauty, atmosphere and memorable moments made the trip very enjoyable.

Food was amazing, varied and tasty every day, and the premium drinks and cocktails never disappointed. The entertainment was really good, and the daytime activities were spot on. I did glass fusion. From the beginning of the holiday to the end, every member of the Meliá team looked after us completely. Special thanks to the Graciosa girls, Tati, Nita,Ariana, Khadi and Gabriela, who gave outstanding service in the restaurant. The young lady working the outside bar during the day was excellent too, and Bostian and Rayco helped make our stay enjoyable. We’re four caterers, so keeping us all happy was an amazing achievement. We definitely recommend it and will return. Many thanks.

We tried this hotel for the first time and found plenty to like. The gardens full of cacti and palms, along with the balconies, give it a distinctive feel, and the staff were very helpful. We chose the Reserve upgrade for its quieter pool and more intimate breakfast room and lounge. The regular buffet was already more than enough for lunch and dinner, and the food was delicious. There’s often a breeze in Lanzarote, so a light cardigan or jacket came in handy in early February. We hope to come back.

Every day brought tasty little surprises, and the people throughout the hotel were professional, kind, and made us feel like royalty. It felt like one big family, and they made our stay really special. Thanks to Team Samira, Miguel, Ariadne, Virginia, Khadi, Gabriela, Klara, Christina, Carlos, Chandni and everyone else. Please also pass on our thanks to the hardworking housekeeping team in the presidential villa and to Mark at reception. Blue-eye-Carla from Ollanda! One small hint: the live music microphone echoes.
