Sunset Inn

The place looked like the photos and was nicely furnished, with a good spot near the beach. The bed is too short for anyone over 1.90m. There were a lot of maintenance issues: the shower head holder was broken, something older reviews had apparently mentioned, and although the landlord's father next door said he'd fix it, he didn't. The drain kept clogging and the water flow was uneven. The wardrobe's mirrored door was broken and wouldn't shut, so we used only the right side. The walls are thin, so keep noise down, and even closed windows let in street noise. We also had to flush several times, and it was better not to put toilet paper in the toilet.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the lack of cleanliness made us feel completely unsafe. This was a budget place, so we didn't expect much, but bathrooms, handles, corners, and bed frames were all filthy. Dust and cobwebs covered the room walls and looked as if they hadn't been cleaned in years. On top of that, a dog from the landlord's house scratched at the bedroom wall all day and night throughout our stay. It showed very little consideration for guests.

I can't recommend this hostel at all. It didn't even have a basic living area, and the free WiFi listed on Booking.com wasn't available. The property details haven't been updated, which is deceptive. The dorm's bins weren't emptied each day and attracted insects. We found old boarding passes, empty bottles, and other rubbish around and under the beds and wardrobe, alongside large, old cobwebs. The sheets were extremely worn and bobbly, disgusting to sleep on. Mattresses were so old and sagging that springs dug into my ribs. One working shower's hot water tap came off and hit my foot, and not all showers worked. For failing to provide at least one advertised item, free WiFi, I asked Booking.com for a full refund for my three nights, €45.
