Villa Estrella Polar

The owners’ hospitality made us feel right at home. Tahiche was a convenient base for getting to excursion spots, tourist areas, and shopping centers, and parking at the property was easy. We spent 10 nights at Villa Estrella Polar. Our double room had a comfortable bed, large wardrobes, and a lovely view of volcanoes and orange and lemon trees. The garden has a pool with sunbeds, plus a shared terrace with lounge furniture where we enjoyed the sunsets.

The rooftop view of the mountains was the standout for me, and the pool was lovely too. It’s a welcoming villa where you can spend time with Asa and Johnny or the other residents. Asa and Johnny were so kind and gave us helpful tips about the island.

The freshly baked bread was a breakfast highlight, and Åsa and Johnny were attentive hosts who shared useful local tips and tried to meet our requests. The rooms were a good size and looked like the online photos. The property is near the main road, with private parking and a pool. When we asked, they brought us a beach towel, though I’d expected one to be provided as standard, as at other places we’ve stayed. I was hoping for more privacy and a quieter stay with my wife. Estrella Polar felt more like couch surfing in someone’s home than a traditional paid bed and breakfast. Åsa and Johnny encourage guests to socialize and are always happy to chat. I understand that it’s their home and that they host in their own way, but at times it made things a little awkward for me. If you enjoy meeting people while traveling, that atmosphere may suit you well. The breakfast was good, but the servings were small, and I had to ask for basics such as milk. It would be easier if ham and cheese were set out on the table instead of kept in the fridge, and bigger portions would help. I want to enjoy breakfast on vacation without worrying that I’m taking too much or having to ask for more. The smart TV’s internet was slow, and videos kept buffering when we tried to watch YouTube in the evenings. We did have a good stay, and Åsa and Johnny made sure we were comfortable. I can see how much care they put into creating a warm place for guests, and I wish them success as they continue to develop it and improve their hosting.

The hosts were friendly and easy to deal with, which made my recent stay on Lanzarote all the more enjoyable. It’s a cozy, charming place, and I’d happily recommend it for a relaxing getaway.
