Hotel Rural Fonda de la Tea

Tejeda is a lovely town, with plenty of restaurants and cafes. The hotel's own restaurant is about a three minute walk away and serves good food with excellent service. Fina and Eva gave us such a warm welcome and couldn't have been more helpful. Our room was excellent and breakfast was extremely good. I loved this hotel and highly recommend both it and a visit to Tejeda.

Fonda de la Tea was a charming base for our 10 day cycling holiday on Gran Canaria. Our original hotel had to close for rebuilding after bush fire damage, and Fonda de la Tea managed to fit us in on very short notice. Manager Serafina made booking easy and stayed past 9pm to welcome us warmly. She understood our concern about leaving our slightly pricey bicycles and offered the meeting room as a place to store our bike luggage and assemble and keep the bikes throughout our stay. We had a key and could get to them any time, which was very much appreciated and certainly not standard procedure. Our room was on the third floor, with an elevator, in the second row of the building. The first row is only one floor high, so all the rooms have a gorgeous view. It was comfortable and pleasant, with comfortable beds made up every day along with the rest of the room. A little more shelf or locker space would have helped, though what was there was enough for ordinary visitors. The free WiFi worked well and was available the whole time, with 17 MBit downstream and 1 MBit upstream. Breakfast was healthy, with lots of fruit, and delicious. A bit more variety would make it perfect. There may be more modern, spacious or luxurious hotels on Gran Canaria, but Fonda de la Tea had all the charm you could hope for. The staff were helpful and we had a lot of fun. When we had a problem at the harbour in Agaete and needed something from our room within 1,5 hours, Serafina found a solution early in the morning and organized everything. She saved us two days of our holiday. We’re glad to come back!

The hotel is right in the centre of Tejeda. The room was clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful, especially Eva. Breakfast is among the basic amenities. The hotel restaurant is a couple of minutes' walk away.

A beautiful building in the centre of town, with very clean, comfortable rooms. The housekeeper was thorough and arranged the room nicely each day.
