Hotel Torico Plaza

Right in the town center, the hotel is very clean and the rooms are spacious. There's free parking near the train station.

Our first evening at this hotel chain was so unpleasant that we probably won't stay with them again. We were put in room 2006, which seemed fine at first, but became unbearably hot as the night went on. The wall control had no batteries, so there was no air conditioning available there. Another control had no instructions. We tried switching it on and changing settings, but it barely helped with the heat. Opening the window onto the internal void made little difference either. In the middle of the night, my Garmin read 30°C, far too hot for a comfortable sleep. Around 6am, cigarette smoke started coming in through the open internal window, followed by noise from other guests. We had to ask reception for a different room for our second night. The receptionist quickly arranged room 3009, which had an external window. We had to repack and unpack all our luggage, but it was worth the trouble. Neither my partner nor I got a proper night's rest, and we weren't up to doing the activities we'd planned for the following day. We spent most of it resting after the lack of sleep. In our view, the hotel shouldn't have assigned us an internal room while rooms with external windows were available. Saving energy by limiting air conditioning matters, but if the hotel chose to put us in an internal room, it should have made sure the air conditioning worked before renting it out. That failure put a disappointing dent in our vacation.

Breakfast was good, with pastries, fruit, tea, coffee, and juices, and they provide things like toothpaste and shampoo in case you forget them. The room itself was standard, and the hotel was nice and clean. The price felt fair for the service, so it's a good deal. Still, it lacked something special to earn five stars, and the soundproofing isn't great, so you may hear noise from outside.

The standard room smelled, and the view was just the wall of the next building. We upgraded to a suite, but it wasn't special apart from a partial view outside. There was no dressing table, the lighting was poor, and the bed linen needed replacing. The air conditioning blew straight onto the person sleeping on the right. Disappointing.
