La Perla

The pool was lovely, the house was clean when we arrived in August 2025, and the bed was comfortable. It’s centrally located too, just a 3-minute drive from the supermarket. Great space for two people, and one of the best houses we’ve stayed in over the past 10 years. The shower is the one small drawback. With a house and garden like this, some nicer garden furniture would be a real improvement, like a lounge set, a more luxurious dining set, and sunbeds.

The worst part is that we’re stuck here for almost three weeks, going indoors at 7:30 PM every day because of the mosquitoes. There are lots of conifers and spruces around, which make it ideal for them, and the previous guests had put stones against the windows for at least a bit of protection. Some windows upstairs have screens, but the owner’s windows do. None of the openable windows on the other side have screens, and one in the shower and one in the bedroom are broken. I don’t sleep well at night, and my dog is stressed from hearing the cockroaches too. There are cockroaches. The pest controller told us after treating the cottage that Moraira was having problems because of the mild winter, and that we should call straight away if we saw any. I’d already told the office I have asthma and lung problems. Now they say the controller who treated the cottage has corona. She could have told us at the time, so I could have considered getting tested. My wife has stopped going to the office because I’m afraid she’ll get very angry. She cleans everything up, then after swimming has to rinse off over a dirty drain. All we hear is “sorry for the inconvenience.” Lo siento is already... The parasol is poor quality, even though the villas around here have ones made to withstand the wind. There are proper heavy bases here, but we still have to sit under the villa’s arch. The shower is tiny and slippery, and you stand with your back against the tap. I understand why there’s no photo of it online. We also only had a brush for sweeping inside, no vacuum cleaner, even though the place is rented to people who might bring pets. Good thing we brought our own Swiffer. The TV only had German channels, and it was 2022. Does anyone from the office ever check the property? The handymen can pick up things at the local China Market, and most of them are defective. We asked for the money back for the days we still had to stay, so we could go elsewhere, or suggested they stay here themselves for a few days. They never answered. Their website says your health is their greatest concern, but we’re still here because we can’t leave. Turisol is done for us. Whatever you complain about, they say “sorry for the inconvenience,” then a handyman comes and patches it up a bit.

The pool and the peace and quiet were the only good parts of our 5-day stay. The photos show a table by the pool, but there wasn’t one, and the sun loungers at the entrance were missing too. They gave us just one roll of toilet paper and two towels, with no shower gel or shampoo, and nothing else, not even oil or salt. There’s no air conditioning. Arriving early costs extra, 75 euros for 4 hours. For what we paid, they should at least have provided the essentials.
