Casa Rural La Capellana by Isla Bonita

The silence here is amazing, and being so remote suited us just fine. The house has everything, so we could simply enjoy our stay. Roadwork during the last few days was a shame, though it wasn’t something the house could control.

Tomás was on hand to answer all our questions when we arrived, and three adorable cats came to greet us too. We had plenty of room in the house, which has all the amenities. The pool offers spectacular views and jets, and can be heated. Sunsets over the Atlantic Ocean were incredible.

We stayed at La Cappelana Holiday Home from October 12th to October 22nd, 2019. The house itself is beautiful, and the property is generally quiet and secluded. We wanted a peaceful place, though, and knowing about the construction in advance would have changed our decision to book. La Cappelana should not have been rented during this building work, since it went against the quiet atmosphere the property promises. The owner is building another holiday home roughly in the middle of the property. Its roof now interrupts the panoramic view. The Atlantic is still visible and beautiful, but the new building gets in the way. The photos on the travel agency's website were out of date too: there is no longer a continuous glass wall or fence. Most of the glass wall has been replaced with a wall, apart from a section near the pool. The construction noise bothered us most. With roof work going on, sitting on the terrace or by the pool felt like being on display. On Wednesday, October 16th, 2019, welding continued all day, and the hammering on the welds was especially loud. We ended up escaping to the beach. Who wants to lie by the pool with all that noise? After we complained to the travel agency, the owner apologized with wine and champagne. We were told the roof work was urgent and that the owner would not work while guests were there. We questioned whether welding on a new building was really urgent, and our experience did not match that promise: more work took place on Sunday, October 20, 2019, Monday, October 21, 2019, and Tuesday, October 22, 2019, our departure day.

We were so glad to find this dream house. It’s spotless, has everything you might need, and sits on a lovely plot, beautifully integrated with nature. The view is fantastic and the pool is great. The owner was kind and helpful too. We’d definitely stay again.
