Hotel Abacería

After staying at around fifteen hotels over the past few days, I'd had no trouble getting my PC online. At Abaceria Hotel, I couldn't connect to the Wi-Fi, and reception had no fix to offer. That's not acceptable for a hotel that calls itself three-star.

The bedrooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and the shower was excellent. Parking was good too, and driving 2 km to leave the car at the foot of Toledo's historic centre turned out to be easier than I'd expected. The view across the river valley to Toledo is great. Some staff could use a bit of training in how to treat customers.

The hotel sits high above Toledo, so paying extra for a room with a view of the old city can be worth it. The rooms were good, though the furniture felt somewhat old. I also liked the terrace, which would be lovely for breakfast outside or dinner at sunset, and there's a breakfast room with a bar. The on-site restaurant serves quality food in a nice setting, but it's pricey and better suited to a full meal than a quick bite. The receptionist was excellent, while service could be average at times, especially when we ordered coffee. The hotel feels a little isolated, with no food options right nearby, so you'd need a car to eat elsewhere. Even with those drawbacks, it was comfortable, peaceful, and had stunning views.

We'd only planned to stop over, but ended up wishing we could stay another night. The hotel is on the outskirts of Toledo, with a panoramic view of the walled city that looks magical after dark. The grounds are lovely, and the terrace is a great place to dine while taking in the view. The food was really good, locals eat here, and the service was friendly and efficient. The bedroom could use a lick of paint, but the double bed was very comfortable. The shower room was clean and perfectly adequate. Breakfast cost extra, though it wasn't expensive. I'd happily recommend it for a stopover, and reckon it would suit a longer stay too.
