Hotel Villa De Torla

The room was excellent, clean, and had a view, with some nice little touches. Breakfast was good, and the hotel was good value, so I'd come back. One evening, though, a large French group filled the dining room. As hotel guests, we were told we could only eat in the bar, where the harsh lighting and plain tables made it feel like a canteen, without much atmosphere. We ate there just the one night, and found better food at the other village restaurants.

The balcony view was stunning, with the mountains seeming close enough to touch, and the old building is beautiful inside and out, well preserved and decorated. The hotel has a pool that looked amazing, though I didn't try it. It's rated two stars, but the service made it feel like at least three. Breakfast was very good with lots of choices, especially the excellent tortilla de patata. They can prepare a picnic for a day out, and the restaurant serves a varied dinner menu at 20:30 for just 15 euros. This may be the best hotel experience I've had, it went beyond what I expected, and I'd love to return.

The staff were very nice, and I liked the hotel's rustic look, inside and out. It has a pool and a small gym, and the price was alright. But our room was so tiny that, as backpackers, we couldn't get to our bags unless I moved all the furniture into the cupboard. There was no fan or air conditioning.

A beautiful hotel with really helpful, friendly people. The €10 breakfast was well worth it. Highly recommend.
