Hotel Las Americas – Mares

The setting is a real highlight: right on the Andalucian coast with a sea view, as our booking said, plus great restaurants, local amenities, beach paths for walks or runs, free exercise machines on the beach, and lots of activities. But based on everything else, we’d rate this “2 star hotel” at just one star, mainly because staff need proper training and should show more respect when dealing with mistakes by the rest of the team. The rooms could use nicer decor and a better clean. The bathroom needed a proper scrub between guests, and unlike the mini bar style fridges at the nearest Torremar branch, these rooms were bare. There wasn’t even a brush for cleaning the toilet bowl. The room keys and locks are also very old, around 15-20 years, and hard to use. Don’t force the key or it may snap in place. Service was a shocker. At check-in, the receptionist at the main Hotel Torremar was amazing and very professional, but her supervisor was rude and unprofessional. It was very disappointing dealing with her about the problems we found in the room. We’d requested a double bed, but were given twin beds that were falling apart from disrepair. This is our first and most useful advice about the property after a trip to Hotel Las Americas, part of the Torremar Group. The group has several facilities in the area, all within walking distance of its main branch.
