Palacio Viejo de las Corchuelas

Carmen is a warm host and a fantastic cook. She also shared her knowledge of the area and stories about her family’s history with the land. We loved Lola the mastiff and seeing the wildlife. A beautiful, enchanting place to stay. We’ll be back.

A surprising place to stay, with the chance to get close to local vultures. Carmen, the owner, is friendly and hospitable, and will show guests her animals and farm if they’re interested in seeing them up close. It’s a good choice if you’re after peace and quiet and want to see local wildlife. I felt the price was fair for the experience. The place has many family decorations and is quiet, so guests are expected to respect the peace.

Set by itself at the edge of Monfrague national park, this magical place felt like a home away from home. Wonderful Carmen looked after us so well. We had dinners in her lovely garden and breakfasts with homemade treats. No hotel could compare. If you get the chance to stay here, take it!

Watching vultures from the hide was unforgettable. The one-way windows let us see them come down to feed without the nervous birds seeing us, and we could hear their wings. We spotted black, griffon, and Egyptian vultures, plus countless black kites. The ride up in Carmen’s truck was an adventure too. This was our second visit to Palacio Viejo de las Corchuelas, and it was lovely to see Carmen, Amaranta, and all the delightful staff again. The wildlife and tranquillity are exceptional, and the superb local food made the visit even better. Thank you, Carmen and Amaranta. We hope to see you again soon, and send hugs in the meantime!
