Hotel Kristal

We were meant to stay three nights, but couldn't sleep there and left after the first. The staff were extremely impolite, especially in the restaurant. The room itself looked as if it hadn't been painted in a decade, and the bed rocked at the slightest movement like it might break. The AC was old, noisy, and looked as though it had never been cleaned. There was no remote, just an on/off switch on the wall. The windows had no insect screens and didn't block outside noise. To use the TV, you had to leave a deposit at the front desk to get its remote. We moved to a cosy studio 20 meters away, for just 15 euros more per night.

I stayed last year. The room was comfortable, clean, and good for the price. The shower was good, the air conditioner kept it cool, and the staff were friendly.

The rooftop was a nice spot for drinks and sunbathing, and it was surprisingly quiet given how central the hotel is. The rooms were spacious, the beds comfortable, there was lots of storage, and everything was clean throughout. Aircon worked fine, though it took a while to cool the room. Leaving a key card in the power slot during the day kept the room cool for when we got back. There are extra outlets in the bathroom for charging, which isn't ideal. The location puts you near everything in town, and the beach is an easy walk. For what I paid, I wasn't expecting much, but it beat my expectations. I'd recommend it to anyone after an inexpensive sunny getaway.

My son gave me the chance to enjoy this holiday, and I'm so grateful. The hotel was fabulous, a lovely place to stay. I'd call it a four-star hotel, if only it had a swimming pool.
