Coastal W.
The building felt insecure, with doors propped open and homeless people staying overnight in the lobby. Inside the flat, none of the electric blinds worked. Some were stuck up, others down, the remotes didn’t work, and live wires were hanging from them. We couldn’t sleep comfortably with people in the lobby and exposed electrical wires. Noise wasn’t why we left. We would have shut the shutters, windows and doors and used the AC, but the blinds didn’t work. The staff were friendly and helpful at first. When we raised the security problems and broken blinds, though, they dismissed them as minor and said they didn’t affect our enjoyment of the flat. I left an honest VRBO review, giving staff and cleanliness five stars but the stay one star overall. They retaliated with a one-star guest review saying we were not clean. Their customer service was atrocious and unprofessional. They appear to have deleted their original angry, aggressive reply to this review; I have included screenshots below. The idea that we wanted to pay for a second night here and also rent a hotel room that felt safe is ridiculous. I’m sharing this because the company gets abusive when guests make legitimate complaints. Look carefully at its negative reviews in each city.
