Torremolinos Inturjoven Youth Hostel

The hostel is close to the sea, shops, clubs, and pubs, and it’s fairly clean. That’s about all I can say for it. The food is abysmal, the selection is a joke, and some kitchen staff don’t seem to understand hospitality. Coffee that remotely resembles coffee is only available in the morning, so bring your own supplies or you’ll be walking around hungry. WiFi is nonexistent. There’s one electric kettle for more than 50 rooms. The washing machine seems to belong to the Spanish Inquisition, and the dryer is a scam: it doesn’t work properly, and they won’t refund the service. Staff speak almost no English. Pay a few more Euros and find somewhere better.

Rooms are basic, facilities are alright, and the food is mediocre. The location is good, and it works well for large groups.

The night security guy was the only very friendly staff member. In the public areas, things were clean, but our room wasn’t. At breakfast I asked for another tong for the cheese, since there was only one for the pork slices. The breakfast lady seemed very annoyed and answered rudely. I don’t think I deserved that reaction just because I don’t eat meat. Staff weren’t friendly in general. They didn’t ask how things were after checkout or even say hello when you passed reception on another day. This place has lots of room to grow.

Everything was clean and neat, and it’s very well equipped, with a pool and vending machines open at night. There weren’t any power outlets by the beds, but otherwise everything was available. It’s part of the international hostal network and members get discounts.
