The dessert was fine, but that was about it. The fideuá was overcooked, and the patatas bravas had an old, greasy taste, possibly because they were from the day before. It didn’t all seem freshly made, and the wine was awful, so we switched to beer. The room by the toilets felt like a funeral hall. Poor value for money, and even though I live nearby, I won’t return.

We ate here for lunch several times while staying near L'estartit, and it turned into our regular spot. The menu del dia was very good value, with fresh ingredients cooked well. Staff were friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed coming here.

Fonda Mitja sits in the old town of Torroella de Montgri, a short walk from free public parking, and seems to be a gathering place for locals. The Menu del Dia offers hearty Catalan food, and the staff were pleasant and helpful. Email to reserve, especially since every table was full when we visited on Thursday.

The three-course menu for 22 euros is good value, and we had a lovely family meal with attentive service. Still, I got a bout of food poisoning from the calamari. I’d recommend it despite that.
