RVHotels Palau Lo Mirador

The setting is a gorgeous 14th-century property, and it’s an easy walk into town for food, coffee and shopping. The restaurant is fantastic, and the place has a lovely atmosphere with modern amenities. Bedrooms are basic, but the beds are comfortable, there’s heating and air conditioning, and the bathrooms are bright with a lovely full-sized tub.

The gardens were beautiful and so well kept, and the reception staff were welcoming. Free parking made things easier, and the location beside the town church put everything within walking distance. The medieval palace itself is breathtaking, decorated almost like a museum, with antique furniture and paintings. The room didn’t live up to the five-star standard I expected. The paint and wallpaper were visibly aged, the inside of the door had a little damage, the air conditioning was loud at night, and there was a rust mark in the bathtub. We also only had one pillow per person, which seemed unusual for a four-star hotel, though I could have asked for more and didn’t. There was a damp smell in the room, probably because of the old stone building. It set off my allergies and I woke up coughing in the night. The setting is lovely, but I felt we paid for what the stay might have been rather than what it actually was.

Myriam was kind and helpful when we checked in that evening, gave us useful information and really went out of her way to please us. The hotel also provides free electric car charging, which made setting off on our day trip easier and quicker. We skipped breakfast, but there are local bars within walking distance for coffee and a sandwich. The historic building has a museum-like interior, and our room had authentic antique furniture. The bathroom and bedding were clean. The rooms aren’t spacious and don’t have modern hotel facilities, and there was a bit of a grandma’s old home smell.

The hotel feels cosy despite keeping all its antique details, and it was very clean. The palace and its gardens are stunning, with a first-class restaurant and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Special thanks to the charming Moroccan guy at Reception.
