Medplaya Sant Eloi

The rooms were clean, and the facilities for children were good. I also liked the intimate feel of the place and the drinks, which tasted decent and didn’t seem to come from cartons. Lunch and dinner were okay, but breakfast got very repetitive, and the meals overall were only mediocre. Getting to Tossa was awkward. The 2 km walk, including a tourist trail, isn’t practical with little kids and luggage. The bus doesn’t run often and carries only 8 people, so we sometimes had to wait for 2 or 3 trips. We had a particularly bad experience trying to catch our 6:30 a.m. bus to Barcelona. The local taxi company made us late, so we had to take a taxi to the airport for 200 euros. Although the hotel and taxi company repeatedly assured us, nobody answered the phone early that morning, and we couldn’t book transport ahead. There may have been a power outage in Tossa that day and we might simply have been unlucky, but it left a bad taste. The hotel staff couldn’t help us.

The apartments had everything we needed, and the air con was ice cold. When it stopped working, we told reception and it was fixed within 2 hours. The staff were all doing a great job, from the waiters and cleaners to the brilliant entertainment team. My 6Y.O loved the kids’ activities, especially the mini disco. There’s loads to do during the day, with 2 Pools & Splash pads, a playground and a football court. The pool areas were clean and felt safe. We stayed 6 nights, found plenty of sunbeds and space, and nights were peaceful after about 11pm. Breakfast was great. The dinner buffet wasn’t for me, but my daughter and partner loved it. Pizza was available at the bar for an extra charge, outside the meal plan. It’s a bit out of the way. We hired a car, so it was fine, but without one I’m not sure how easy it would be to reach the beach or Tossa De Mar center. I could be wrong. Great place, and credit to the staff.

The restaurant could have used more space, and it would’ve been nice to have themed cuisine nights. They did open the pizza restaurant on Friday & Saturday night. We went through TUI as a group of 8 across 3 rooms. The recently refurbished bedrooms were fantastic and cleaned daily. It’s a great hotel for kids, too. The little ones, aged 18 months & nearly 3 yrs, loved the kiddies pool and the entertainment staff, especially the face painting.

The pizza restaurant was really nice, and we enjoyed the room and food. I’d suggest upgrading to all inclusive if you want drinks included. I only wish the beach were closer, though I guess that’s not something they can change. An extra shuttle bus around the middle of the day would be useful.
