After a few days of hiking, this was a lovely place to land. The bathrooms were very clean, and the kitchen and rest of the interior were beautifully decorated with lots of local touches. It’s a new hostel run by two wonderful hosts, Mariam & Ariel.

There’s a handy local shop very close by with most everyday essentials, and the place itself is cosy and pleasant. But the rules felt like too much: the kitchen is off limits after 10pm, even just for making tea, and there can be no talking or noise from 10pm until 9am, even at a reasonable volume. You can’t wash clothes in the bathroom, and the upstairs kitchen is apparently only there to look at. There are more rules besides. I won’t stay here again.

We slept really well here. The people were kind and pleasant, and they had habits that were considerate of nature. It was the nicest house we stayed in during our travels around Spain.

Breakfast came with delicious homemade jam and fruit from the garden. The hosts were lovely and gave us helpful advice and assistance for the area. A beautiful place to stay in Trevelez, with a warm family feel. I’d highly recommend it.

The owners helped me out when I really needed it in June 2017, and I won’t forget that. I’m a backpacker, and this felt like a home away from home. I stayed two nights to get to the mountain, then added another night to recover. The house has some rules, but I think they make it easy for people to share the place, so I don’t understand giving it one star for that. I may never go back to Trevelez, since there’s so much of the world left to see. But if I’m near Trevelez, whether in Sewilla, Malaga or Almeria, I’d consider returning for a quiet rest in those beautiful surroundings or another trip up that mountain, which isn’t so hard to reach.
