Complexo Xacobeo

We had our best meal on the Camino here. For 16 euros, the menú del día came with bread, a bottle of wine, paella, a juicy steak and fries, and dessert. The croquettes and calamari were scrumptious too.

The place was comfortable, well located, and had all the essentials. But I got several bedbug bites during my stay. I checked the bed carefully when I arrived, as I always do, so I suspect the blanket may have been the source. I appreciated the detailed bedbug information poster in the room, but it seems the problem wasn't fully dealt with.

Very comfortable place, with lots of beds in both dorms and private rooms. On rainy days there's a drying room for wet shoes and boots, and a fireplace outside the large kitchen. They turn the fireplace off at 10 pm. The restaurant is just a few metres down the street and, for what you get, was the best value meal I've had, especially compared with what I've paid for café con leche or cola cao with tortillas or bocadillos. €15 got me two pieces of grilled beef, a sausage, fries, a bowl of vegetable soup, bread, and a bottle of red wine.

The restaurant seems to be the only proper one in Triacastela, and I imagine most pilgrims eat there. Even with all the people coming in, the service was excellent, and the servers were friendly and welcoming. I hope they stay that way. At the pension, they accommodate lots of pilgrims in both private rooms and albuergues, but the staff remained friendly and welcoming despite the check-in rush. My room was spacious and lovely, and since it was getting warmer, the fan kept it cool. 5 stars all the way.
