Hotel Santamaria

The cleaning ladies were the only nice and decent people working here. For what the hotel offers, the price is way too high. The internet kept dropping, and the TV channels froze constantly. Staff told us to remove the room power key to restart the TV program, so we ended up having to do that almost every 30 minutes. Ridiculous. The mini-fridge was broken, and instead of replacing it with a working one, they told us to put our food in a bag so it could be kept in the hotel’s larger refrigerator. Are we camping, or staying in a place called a hotel?

The hotel is well located in Tudela, with the main sights easy to reach. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the service was good, though not every staff member spoke English. There was a good range at breakfast, but the evening menu was limited if you wanted to eat at the hotel. Parking is available, though at €12 per night I thought it was a bit expensive.

The rooms facing the little park have balconies, though they felt like a smokers’ paradise even though the rooms are non-smoking. The location is good, close to the center, and nighttime traffic was acceptable. My colleagues’ rooms and mine were bright and clean, a decent size, and the beds were comfortable. I missed having a fridge and safe, and the desk was acceptable for work, but the lighting there wasn’t. The staff were friendly, although English wasn’t always available. The hotel itself is very simple, especially the breakfast room, and I had mixed feelings about breakfast. Still, it isn’t expensive, so I didn’t expect more. I can recommend it if you want a good bed, a clean room, and a typical Spanish breakfast.

The air conditioning didn’t work properly during some very hot days. After two sweaty, overheated nights in the room, I just wanted to get home and sleep properly.
