La Sigrina Hostal

The staff were wonderful and communicated really well. The place was spacious, with comfy beds, fluffy towels, good shower pressure and air conditioning. Breakfast was pretty good, though I would’ve liked more protein. We were the last ones down, so maybe the earlier guests had eaten all the ham. I was very impressed with La Sigrina, and we’d stay again and recommend it.

There was no sound insulation, so people coming and going late at night or early in the morning made it noisy. The room itself was damp and smelled of moisture and mold, with no ventilation, and I struggled to sleep. It looked recently renovated, which made the smell especially disappointing after seeing the high ratings. Maybe the humidity problem is limited to this room. I didn’t enjoy staying here 😒.

Mario is such a kind host, and the beds are super comfortable. The rooms feel fresh, there are all the amenities, and the shared spaces are beautiful. Breakfast each morning was generous and delicious. On weekends the terrace opens to the public for fun events, which makes for a nice way to spend a weekend in Tui. It’s great for pilgrims too, with a good rest at La Sigrina hard to beat.

The service was so accommodating that they let me have breakfast before its scheduled time. I was walking 17 km to my destination and needed an early start because it was so hot in Spain and Portugal. Since it was a public holiday in Spain (25 of July), I couldn’t get my first coffee in Porriño until 11:00, so that breakfast gave me the energy to make the walk. That kindness is part of what makes the Camino to Santiago so special. I was doing the Camino Portuguese and stayed at La Sigrina Hostal. The location is hard to beat, close to the centre of Tuin but tucked just behind it in a quiet spot. The room was small but had everything I needed.
