Parador de El Saler

The location is amazing, and the hotel seems aimed mainly at golfers. Like other Paradores, it doesn't consistently deliver what you'd expect from a typical five-star, or even four-star, place. There's no proper coffee machine in the room, and the staff don't seem well trained. It feels more like a three-star hotel.

The basement gym was probably the best hotel gym I've ever seen, and it's included with the stay. The spa costs extra. Bikes can be rented at reception for a reasonable price. We hired them twice and had a lovely time riding around the area. They told us to avoid the main roads, though there are plenty of off-road tracks and the roads aren't too busy. The pool is great for swimming and very large, but the area around it is basic and has no bar or cafe. The beach is easy to reach, but there's no equipment or facilities there, and it's not as nice as other beaches along the coast. Rooms are modern and clean, and all have balconies. Standard rooms face the car park and golf course, away from the sea; the pricier ones are the same size but look toward the sea. Breakfast runs until 11 am and has a good selection, though the coffee, cereals and yoghurts could be better. It's still worth paying for, since there's nowhere else nearby to eat unless you have a car. It's a very pleasant hotel in a lovely location.

We stopped here during our road trip from Vienna to Alicante and booked a nice suite at the last minute. We were warmly welcomed, and they made our dog feel welcome too. The spacious suite had a terrific view. With the golf court directly connected, it's a perfect spot for relaxing and playing golf.

Update 28/12/2025: I saw the parador management's reply. Google Maps clearly shows that the parador is the only infrastructure in the area, and it's even visible in the last picture. I invite the manager to go and look for themselves on the beach. The parador's used water goes straight into the sea, along a stretch of shore that's been made inaccessible so nobody can see it. Disgusting and shameful!
