The apartment was damp and dirty, with a bad smell inside and an even worse one at the building entrance. There was hair and grit in the shower, the beds had no sheets, just bedspreads and blankets, and they were extremely uncomfortable. The shower had no hot water, and there wasn’t even a welcome bottle of water. Getting in was a mess too, with long, unclear instructions delivered in a rush. The apartment was poorly located and maintained, the neighborhood seemed unsafe, and it was very noisy with poor soundproofing and limited parking. Before the door was even open, I was rudely asked what time I’d be leaving.
