Resotel

We'd just found our perfect dog friendly stop for the road. It's a brilliantly funky hotel at a garage, with an F1, racing and superhero theme. Nearby, the hotel has a dog friendly Italian restaurant called Pizza Pizza, just a five minute walk away. The food there is AMAZING, and the place is just as quirky and fun as the hotel. We're booking it again for the trip home before we even check out! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The staff were very kind, and breakfast was a nice continental spread. I asked for a gluten free and vegan option and requested plant based milk a day ahead when booking. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated with racing memorabilia. I'm not a racing fan, but the owner's personal touches and the thoughtfully arranged photos and posters made it feel like a little museum of racing history, with collective moments from the past. Our room was excellent, with quality furnishings, a comfortable bed and pillows, a spacious shower, and a large terrace with a view. There was also an EV charger for our electric car, just 10€ overnight, which was very cheap. The fridge was excellent, and there were complimentary treats, water, fruit, and a kettle with tea infusions and coffee. I highly recommend it if you're visiting the area.

We came across the RESOTEL while travelling through Europe towards Portugal, and the listing sounded interesting. The place turned out to be even more than we'd imagined. It's built right on top of a petrol station, with a curved glass front, and you enter reception through the station shop. One friendly staff member handles check-ins while also refuelling cars and working the till. We arrived without warning and soon met the hotel manager, who was very likeable. There's a barrier free entrance and a lift. The hotel's racing fan owner has filled it with framed photos, posters and newspaper articles. Engine parts, a petrol pump and even a motorbike on the wall are among the decorations, along with striking light installations. The four floors use bright colours, especially bold blue and orange. Rooms are thoughtfully decorated too, with modern colourful bathrooms and squeaky ducks. Breakfast is included, so there's no need to decide about it. You eat in the petrol station cafeteria. On the top floor there's a terrace with a rooftop pool and lovely views as far as Salamanca. A few hundred metres away is PizzaPizza, the hotel's restaurant. Its decor is just as imaginative, the food is delicious and the service is very friendly. You can't take it all in on one visit, and we'd be happy to return, to the restaurant and the hotel.

I absolutely loved the vintage racing theme, and it's so nice that dogs are welcome both at the hotel and at its restaurant. The hotel also has an EV charging station. I was only passing through town, but the stay and food have me thinking I might come back just to stay here and try more of the menu. The restaurant was a real surprise. I expected a normal pizza place, but it was far beyond that, easily one of the best restaurants I've been to. Even places I've tried in a much higher price range don't come close to how good the food was. Service was excellent and fast too. It's a simply awesome hotel.
