Hostal Agarimo

We picked this place for its great spot near the disc golf course, which was all we were after. The staff member was lovely and sent us on our way with water and juice. It would have been nice to have a bit of air conditioning, but that’s how it goes. Since nearly everything was shut on Sunday, we ended up ordering takeout.

The room was clean and had everything we needed, though it wasn’t modern. We got a warm welcome, kind service, and free coffee. I’d recommend it.

The food was delicious, home-cooked, and just the thing after a long day. Prices were affordable, too. The rooms were spotless, with superb mattresses, and the service was attentive and genuinely welcoming. It’s a simple, no-frills place for workers or travelers passing through, but it has excellent transport links: the commuter train gets you to the heart of Bilbao in 18 minutes. Practical and comfortable, and a good fit for business trips or anyone wanting somewhere functional without spending much.

There was no heating, so they gave us five sheepskin blankets. I also wouldn’t leave anything in the room: when something was missing, they wouldn’t return it and insisted it hadn’t been there, even though I knew otherwise. It came down to their word against mine. At 8:00 AM, an 85-year-old woman came into our room. I told her before she entered that we didn’t need cleaning, but she still came in, looked at me with disgust, wandered around muttering, then left. I have her on video. What a terrible stay, the worst two nights I’ve ever paid for. They need to control this woman because what she’s doing is illegal. I absolutely wouldn’t recommend this guesthouse. It was cold, there was no privacy, and they’ll steal your personal belongings. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Hats off to the management!
