The weekend itself went fine, but after we left we were told we’d “broken” the bed frame. I was the one who slept in that bed, and I know I didn’t break it. I would’ve noticed right away. There’s nothing to show it wasn’t already damaged, but we paid the deposit anyway. It’s frustrating to be charged for damage we didn’t cause, especially when future guests are left to cover problems from earlier stays if they don’t inspect everything first. Check the whole place, even the bed frame. This was really disappointing.

The house itself has a lot of things in poor condition: broken refrigerator drawers, chairs that feel like they’re about to fall apart, and terrace walls that need repainting. They still expect everything to be treated as if the place were a luxury mansion. The way guests were welcomed made a bad impression from the start. We spent a weekend at Casa Rural Valseca, and Isabel was rude and had no manners. Her treatment of people was unacceptable, and the owners showed very little courtesy. They wanted the deposit in cash, then tried to return it by bank transfer. Appalling service.

The garden and pool area are nice, but the upkeep needs work. Paint is peeling from the walls, some plastic tables are broken, there are cobwebs, and every refrigerator drawer was broken. The furniture is old, and the foam mattresses were so poor that sleeping on them was impossible. For €800 for a weekend, the quality was far too low. The woman who came with the keys and to lock up was rude and arrogant, and kept threatening to take our deposit if anything happened. They wouldn’t let us stay through Sunday, even though nobody else was booked. We’ve stayed in rural houses for years and have never had to leave so early. WE WILL NOT RETURN. Dear Mr. Lin, You say there was no contract, but we first contacted you through Rentalia. At your suggestion, you said you would lower the price for cash to avoid taxes. That wasn’t a real discount, just removing Rentalia’s fees. Rentalia and the tax authorities have already been informed, and we sent you WhatsApp messages confirming your instructions. If I pay you in cash without a receipt, I’m not going to wait 48 hours for you to reimburse me, if you choose to do so, by bank transfer. That can only happen if you were paid under a Rentalia contract or another legal method. A house at €800 seems expensive whether it’s for 17 or 80 people when you find a broken refrigerator and table, not to mention the parasol and mattresses with no foam padding that can’t be slept on. I wish I’d taken photos so everyone could see. It would be best if you, sir, [provided/received/etc.]. Lin, go see whether it’s been a while since you visited your house, and try sleeping on those mattresses. I’m sure they’re “the same” as the ones you sleep on. If you have a 75-year-old woman working in your house, that’s not my problem. I imagine that under your “cash” payment policy, she isn’t registered as an employee. Thank you for letting us stay until 4 pm. Still, we’ve visited several rural houses, and they always let us stay on Sunday until checkout time.

There’s plenty of space in the house and the rooms are roomy, and everything was very clean. The pool is especially large and nice, and the kitchen is nice too. Some things need attention, though: the furniture and mattresses should be replaced, and the patio could use a refresh and a bit more shade.
