Casa Las Escaleritas

The house is in a beautiful, very quiet area and well located, but several things fell short of what we expected for the type of rental and the price. There were cobwebs all over, as well as spiders and worms, and we found the house unclean. The bathroom had damp patches, and one sofa's cover was torn and dirty enough to put us off sitting on it. Even toilet paper, a basic necessity, was missing. Arranging our arrival was frustrating. We tried to reach the contact the owners had provided the day before, to set a time and get the keys, but got no reply. On arrival day, while already on the island, we tried again without success. Booking.com answered when we called them, and helped us arrange a meeting with the contact. That person didn't show up, though. Someone else handed over the key and didn't show us around or explain anything about the house.

Ermisenda welcomed us very kindly after we had some trouble finding the house in the small mountain village. She's very friendly and works for the owner. The place is beautifully and tastefully decorated, and otherwise everything was great. The island is wonderful. We booked through Booking.com because we thought pets were accepted, but they seemed surprised that we had a dog and asked for a €100 deposit for their protection. The information on Booking.com wasn't clear. There are a few things that could make the stay more comfortable: the pillows were awful for sleeping and hurt the neck, and the mattress was just average. In the cold weather we've had this year, another duvet would have helped. For four days they left only one and a half rolls of toilet paper, which wasn't enough for two people. We arrived late when not much was open, so a little oil and vinegar would have been a nice, helpful touch, though not essential.

We liked the house a lot, but there were worms throughout. The view wasn't very good, and there was dirt, dust, and cobwebs inside. The sheets and towels smelled awful, there were no clean replacements, and the blankets couldn't be used.

The house itself is wonderful, but there was no microwave and the place was full of bugs. It felt neglected, was poorly cleaned, and was very damp. The water heater didn't work properly. Blankets smelled musty, and so did the towels, which smelled of tobacco. There was only one towel for five nights. The mattress was another problem. The toilet cistern was broken and held together with silicone. There's no parking at the residence, and no spaces available on the street. The housekeeper took two days to answer our calls and WhatsApp messages, which left us uneasy.
