The sheets and towels seemed very clean, and the house itself is lovely, with gorgeous views in a really peaceful spot. Getting there was easy too: even though Mocanal feels secluded, the road between Valverde and Frontera runs just above the house. The cleaning was a real problem for us. We found lipstick and cocoa stains in two mugs, dried food on some ladles, and a frying pan with a thick burnt layer underneath. We had no utensils of our own, so we spent our first afternoon scrubbing the tiles and dishes before we could eat. There were also lots of cobwebs and insects, and no insect repellent. I know that can happen in this area, but the house gave the impression it hadn't been aired or cleaned inside for a long time. I'm allergic to spider bites, so that mattered a lot to me. There was a bad smell when we arrived, beyond just dampness, and we had to buy bathroom cleaner because the toilet smelled awful.

The location worked really well for us, with easy access to everything, though the north is colder and damper. The apartment is spacious, clean, and has all the basics, including a crib or highchair if you need one. I couldn't give it five stars because the beds weren't comfortable. The mattress is too soft and should be replaced, and even sitting on the sofa bed you can feel its springs. We didn't sleep on it, but comfortable rest matters after long days out sightseeing.

When our flight to El Hierro was cancelled, the airline kindly arranged for us to stay at this rural guesthouse. We were so grateful. The owners were incredibly kind, even offering to drive us to the only place open for dinner nearby and collect us afterward. The guesthouse is spacious, beautiful, and welcoming. We'll choose it for our next visit to El Hierro. THANK YOU

We stayed in the upstairs apartment, Castaño. The house has two floors, with Peral downstairs, and our apartment was lovely and had everything we needed. We couldn't get the Wi-Fi working, though a break from being connected felt welcome on holiday in El Hierro.

We felt at home straight away, and everything we needed was there. The place is comfortable, with lovely views and a handy location for getting around. There's a supermarket and bakery close by. The hosts were attentive and very helpful the whole time. Thanks, we'll be back and would recommend it.
