Hotel 4R Meridià Mar

Parking was no trouble, and the location worked perfectly for us. We had a lovely three days in a clean, tidy room with a nice view. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the half board was amazing. We loved it and will be back. Thanks to everyone.

Our holiday got off to a terrible start. The toilet seat was completely detached when we arrived, so I reported it to reception. They said maintenance would fix it, but a few hours later it was still the same. When I returned to ask, the receptionist pointed to a man behind the counter and said she'd told him about the problem. He hadn't gone to our room. He tried to explain in Spanish that his working hours were over and he'd do it the next day. I was upset and asked why he couldn't fix it while he was sitting there. He got up and started cursing my mother in Spanish. I used to live in Mallorca and understood what he said, and then we argued. It was rude and really unprofessional. My room should have been ready when I arrived, and this was not hospitality. Neither the receptionist nor the manager checked on us afterward. They didn't have to offer us anything, but after what happened, they should have. The staff didn't speak English and weren't nice. I would never recommend this hotel.

The location felt deserted, with no shops, restaurants, pubs, bars, or transport nearby. The closest place was a 20-minute walk, and I had to find somewhere else to eat even though I'd bought a breakfast and dinner package. There were no snacks as advertised, and after 11 pm there were no drinks. If you arrive later, you have to wait until the next day for refreshments. There was supposedly entertainment and a games room, but neither was there. The bar staff didn't know what a Piña colada or milk was, despite the advert mentioning cocktails. I didn't expect to be in bed by 8 every night. I saved for this holiday all year and was looking forward to it, but the misleading description and what felt like ludicrous lies ruined it. I felt badly let down. It's meant to be a three-star hotel, but I'd give it minus one. It felt more like a home for elderly and disabled people. No one spoke English when I arrived, so they couldn't understand what I was asking for. I was charged for Wi-Fi even though the hotel description says it's free. I needed a safe and instructions for using it, but the language barrier made that impossible. The room was advertised with a TV, but all the channels were in other languages and there weren't even subtitles. The pool area had at most 20 loungers and no parasols, and the pools weren't clean. It was extremely hot, which made the stay uncomfortable. There were also no other places to eat unless I spent even more money traveling to the nearest town every day. A group of more than 15 disabled guests and their carers arrived. I have nothing against disabled people, but their bulky equipment left little room in the restaurant and by the pool. They used the pool wearing nappies and with stoma bags and medical dressings, which leaked into the water and weren't cleaned up, making it unpleasant for others to swim. The guests were friendly and very touchy-feely, though their tempers seemed unpredictable. At the buffet, some touched and licked food and put it back. That was unhygienic, especially during COVID, and an easy way to spread germs.

The restaurant staff were amazing, and so was the food. The room was okay, but it wasn't very clean, and the terrace was completely open. On the first floor, you couldn't open the blinds without everyone passing by being able to look in. The area is quiet and pleasant, but I'd look elsewhere if visiting. I don't recommend this hotel. The rest of the staff were extremely rude. A maintenance worker raised his voice and told me off just because I asked for a blanket after the cleaners had taken it away that morning for some reason. The receptionists seemed lazy about helping and didn't want you there unless you spoke perfect Spanish.
