The biggest problem was the last-minute change of accommodation. Five days before we arrived, I called to confirm the booking we’d made in February, and the owner told me we’d be moved because La Casa was hosting local workers. I got no details about the replacement place, just reassurance that she looked after her guests. I should have cancelled then. Other guests apparently weren’t told until they showed up. We’d booked La Casa Rural El Calero for five of us walking the Camino, expecting the quiet countryside stay described in the reviews. Instead, after walking 29 kms, we had to find our way to a motel in the industrial area of Colloto, outside Oviedo. It wasn’t remotely what we’d been promised, and the overbooking was unacceptable. The owner did refund us in full. Ask questions before booking, and if you don’t get clear answers, find somewhere else.

After a day of walking, it was lovely to sit in the garden in the sun with a glass of wine. The place was clean, comfortable, and relaxing, out in the countryside on the way to Pola de Siero. Dinner and breakfast were both tasty and generous. Can recommend.

We felt really well cared for by the hosts during our El Camino de Santiago hike. The guesthouse is quiet and surrounded by nature, and both dinner and breakfast were a wonderful welcome after a day on the trail. Thank you! ☺️

The host was lovely and even had a cold beer ready when we arrived. Our five-course dinner with vino was very good, and breakfast was fabulous too. It was nice being able to choose when dinner and breakfast were served. The location used to be right on the Camino, but a small route change means it’s now about 500m off the path. The signs are good. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the shower was great. Highly recommend for a Camino stop.

We had a really enjoyable stop on the way to Compostella. Our daughter is vegetarian, and the gracious hostess made a special meal for us that was delicious.
