At Camino Art House, the animals and the land seem to belong to the same quiet story. Cats drift through like little ghosts, while the dogs race after the wind, and all around them nature keeps up its gentle song. There were warm meals that fed more than just the body, and mornings so still you could hear the softest whispers. People treated each other with care and respect, sometimes without needing to say much at all. The green barranco felt endless, full of laughter, with a place for sorrow to fade. It feels like a secret garden, made even better by the kindred souls there. The house holds old stories and new ones, and some are still waiting for the next person to pass through. I know I'll come back. See you again, Camino. 🌿✨

A week here in the mountains went by in such a magical little place. I slept in a cave, with nothing but nature sounds around at night, and the volunteers were so kind and helpful. I'm really glad I came across this spot on my travels. Thanks again, Camino Art ❤️

Volunteering should be an exchange that nourishes both the people and the project, with care, solidarity and respect on both sides. That balance felt painfully missing here, and I hope we can get back to the real meaning of volunteering and donation in these projects. The owner, the woman who rents the place, often came across as cold and authoritarian. There didn't seem to be much space for discussion, warmth or mutual respect, more obedience than community. Volunteers felt treated as expendable workers instead of guests, doing 40 hours/day of cleaning and cooking for you. The reality underneath the surface was deeply disappointing: dirty areas, sleepless nights when rats came to the beds, and cockroaches around the kitchen. Some places ask you to give your hands. Here, it felt like the place gradually took your spirit too. If backpacker solidarity, human respect and the meaning of volunteering matter to you, maybe take your kindness somewhere else.

There were mice waiting for food, so I wouldn't bring any into the cave. We rented the “blue cave” for one night, but the bedding was very dirty and didn't seem to be washed between guests. We ended up putting our own camping tent over the mattress. At this price, the service was poor. If cleanliness matters to you, I can't recommend it; if it doesn't, you can go.

We spent three wonderful nights sleeping in a cave, which was an experience all on its own. This is a really special place to slow down, relax in the sun or take short hikes. Volunteers handle most things at the hostel and cook amazing meals every day, with donations as payment. Don't come expecting standard comfort. Keep an open mind and it can be a special stay.
