Las Rocas in Vega de Valcarce was a welcome bit of luxury at this point on the Way. A great place to rest before the steep climb up to Las Herrerias.

I loved sitting on the balcony in the afternoon with cheese and wine, listening to the creek below. The room was beautiful, and this was easily my favorite place to stay on the Way. It felt like a real treat.

Its simplicity is what made the stay feel luxurious. I especially liked the stream outside my window and the castle-like walls, and the owner was so kind. One of my favorite stops on the Camino in 2023.

We had lasagne for dinner and it was great. The other plates coming out looked tempting too. A surprisingly polished little restaurant for the price, run by a young couple. Definitely worth stopping in.
