Casa Rural Puerta de Castilla

The village is calm and friendly, with a tobacconist and supermarket right beside the house, plus a bar serving homemade food at lunch and dinner. The owner was the most attentive and friendly host we've had at a rural stay. The house is lovely, has all the amenities, and is much larger than the photos suggest. Everything was perfect, a 10 out of 10!

We had a great time exploring Ávila, especially with all the Christmas atmosphere, and the people in the village were lovely. The house is very close to Ávila and worked brilliantly for our large group. It was comfortable in every way, with all the details thought through and everything we needed. There’s a shop next door with just about anything you might need. Even if you haven’t forgotten anything, it’s worth popping in for the delicious bread rolls with skimmed olive oil. You can also get legumes in the village, and they turn out really well. Such a pleasure staying here.

We were ten, and everyone slept comfortably in beds that were very comfortable. The heating kept every room pleasant, even though the house is large. It’s a lovely place set up for a big group, and no detail seemed to have been missed. The village is small and very quiet, with good transport connections. Ávila is only twenty minutes away and Salamanca about an hour. We’d definitely come back.

Cell phone reception in the village is really poor, though that does make it a good place to disconnect. The house itself is spectacular: spacious, clean, tidy, and stocked with what you need for a few days. We spent four days there in August. There’s no air conditioning, but it stayed comfortable indoors thanks to the thick ceilings. The quadruple room is enormous, and the other rooms are laid out nicely. The living and dining area is huge, the open kitchen has everything you need, and the wine cellar gives the place extra charm. People in the village are lovely and sociable. I’d gladly return.
