Hotel Velis

The rooms and shared areas were very clean, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and polite on WhatsApp. They changed towels and cleaned the bathroom on request at no extra charge, arranged an airport transfer for a reasonable cost, and provided rooftop washing line access when asked. The air conditioning worked well, the shutters kept out light for sleeping, and it was a quiet, family-friendly place. It's also close to the bus and terminal for nearby towns such as Malaga and Nerja. There were some downsides: staff had limited English, and there was no kettle or shared kitchen, nor cutlery, cups, or plates in the room for snacks or tea and coffee. The bathroom smelled bad when its door was shut, so we had to leave it open.

Check-in was friendly and the hotel was clean, but it was missing the little things. The minibar fridge was empty, with no water in the room and no bar or vending machine to buy anything. That was a nuisance arriving late at night. The shower gel dispenser was empty too. The reception looks like a comic book jail or police office. At 107€ for the room, we found it overpriced.

Barely above hostel standard. Very sparse, with a moldy, mildewy smell.

The people were very nice and it's a pleasant hotel, though not a fancy one. Being near malaga means the beaches there are about 35 minutes away, which is helpful.
