Up Rooms Vic Hotel

We were bike packing across Catalonia, and this was where our first day ended. The staff were lovely and helpful, with lots of suggestions for places to eat. There’s secure bike parking a few minutes away, managed by the hotel, and our room was clean and spacious. We’ll be back!

The location is a real plus, close enough to walk into the center. Our room was fine, though nothing special. After getting soaked in the rain, we had trouble drying our clothes because the air conditioning only blew cold air. The staff tried to be nice, but attempted to sell us a €10 parking ticket per bike for a garage they said they had a deal with. They also pushed a €19 breakfast, even though you can get amazing food at a bakery.

The families at my friend's wedding were great, and we spent two nights at the hotel. What really stood out was the staff. As we were leaving in the rain, Laura kindly lent us her umbrella. Later, we couldn’t find a train that would get us to Barcelona in time. After half an hour trying different taxi numbers without success, I called Laura for help. She got us a taxi within a minute. She’s a lovely person and a real asset to the company.

We couldn’t sleep with the window open because of traffic and people fighting in the street, but the room was stifling at 30 degrees. Its tiny window let in no air, the radiator couldn’t be switched off, and the air conditioning only blew hot air. We were told the ventilation was centralized and nothing could be done. They wouldn’t move us to a room away from the road. It was a strange and unexpected stay, and I certainly won’t return.
