The restaurant is a little gem, bringing together a sense of the past with what people expect today. The food was nicely cooked and tasty, and I’d stop in again if I were around here more often. The Hostal has clearly seen better days, though. The room was outdated, but the mattress was good. Fine for one night and then moving on.

I stopped here for a night while on vacation in Spain. The rooms were clean, and there was air conditioning in case it got hot. I had dinner in the restaurant: the service was good, and the food was great. I also liked the location near Barcelona.

We stayed here on the way down to southern Spain and again on our return to France. It felt a lot like visiting family, especially since I grew up in Spain. They welcomed us like family, and the place really is a hidden treasure just over the border from France at la Jonquera. It’s been run by a family for generations. Don’t expect anything ultra modern, but if you want a true Catalonian experience, you’ll feel right at home. The rooms are enormous for the price, spotlessly clean, and have incredibly comfortable beds. The bathrooms have been modernized with Italian-style showers, and there’s soap, shampoo, and shower gel, along with wonderfully soft towels, Wi-Fi, and TV. It’s so peaceful, and the secure undercover parking was a big plus for us. The food is absolutely exquisite, the service fantastic, and the waitress was always smiling and polite. There’s a lovely terrace for the summer and a traditional restaurant inside as the seasons change. The wife and husband team work incredibly hard, and it really is admirable. The price is more than reasonable, though meals cost extra, and the chef is a magician, so eating there is well worth it. Take a look at the photos in the restaurant. One shows Frank Sinatra with the current owner’s grandfather in 1950. Just imagine the history and stories those walls hold. We look forward to coming back for years to come. The local fiestas are in the last week of august, so book ahead if you’re interested. All in all, a wonderful place to stay. Xxx

The food was really tasty, with different meals each day. The menu has three dishes: a first plate, a second plate, and dessert. I had calanari with onions, which was a dream. The espresso is one of the best in the world too, topped with a really big layer of coffee cream. Really nice and tasty.
