Estival Park Almaris

The outside pool is tiny, nowhere near big enough for a hotel with thousands of residents. The food was bland, dry, undercooked, and repulsive. I got chicken at dinner, developed severe food poisoning, and had to go to the hospital. Cleaners did the bare minimum, barely washed the mops between rooms, and left the floor dirty. For four days running, a cleaner left a large dump in my toilet and didn't flush. Things were also stolen from our room, and reception did nothing about it. We still haven't heard anything about the earphones that went missing. If you do end up at this trashy hotel, Mix La Pineda Restaurant is just around the corner and has lovely food and great staff.

The hotel worked for our family, and the kids and I liked our stay, though we're unlikely to return. The location is great, by the beach and a park, and close to Reus Airport. The modern hotel was clean, the gym had everything we needed and was free for guests, and the paddle and tennis courts cost a small extra €15. Breakfast was good, and there were unlimited self-serve drinks and snacks at the bar. The kids also loved the play area with arcade games and a pool table. Front desk staff were kind and quick to help when our toddler was sick a couple of times. Lunch and dinner were only okay at best. Sometimes the grilled meat was good, but it was hit or miss, and the rest of the food was pretty awful. Breakfast had plenty of options. For a family hotel, not having cutlery for babies or toddlers was crazy. The spa was free, but we weren't told we'd need things like a towel or head cap, so we had to pay for them. It was annoying, even if not a huge deal. It wasn't a bad stay, just not good enough to make us choose it again over somewhere new.

The pool was really cold, the drinks cost far too much, and the music was always too loud. Honestly, this is the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. Period. The service was bad too.

We really didn't want to leave after seven nights. We stayed in a duplex room with a balcony in Hotel 2 - Almaris, and it was immaculate when we arrived. The staff were friendly and attentive throughout. We went all inclusive and couldn't fault it. Lunch and dinner had a different theme each day, and even the two very fussy eaters in my family always found plenty. The snack bar was stocked with chips, burgers, hotdogs, salads, toasties, chicken nuggets, and fresh sandwiches. The kids loved serving themselves ice cream and drinks. We didn't catch much of the entertainment, but what we did see was good. The pool was just right for the kids, not too small or too big, so we could keep an eye on them. We always found four sunbeds for our family. The beach is a five minute walk, and PortAventura theme park is a 25 minute bus ride away. It was an amazing stay from start to finish. We've fallen in love with this hotel and will definitely come back. Nothing bad to say.
