We came looking for peace in an authentic farmhouse and found it in the countryside, with plenty of space for being outdoors. It’s rural accommodation, so don’t expect hotel-style design, services, or upkeep. Carlos is the owner and will do what he can to make you comfortable. He used to be a chef and may even cook for you if he has time. He let us bring our pet, who appears in one of the photos, and was absolutely delighted.

Our group of 11 slept well, and the stay was pleasant overall. The place is beautiful. I do wish they’d mentioned that the owner lives next door and is around during your stay. The kitchen needs new utensils too, since none of the knives or scissors cut properly. I assume the office gets cleaned in summer, because it needed a good clean when we were there.

There’s hardly any phone reception inside, and Wi-Fi is available only in the main house. The farmhouse has six bedrooms across two houses, three bathrooms, a large garden with an outdoor table, a pool, dining room, kitchen, and indoor chill-out space. One bathroom has a jacuzzi, though the owner said it wasn’t included. The kitchen is well equipped with an American-style fridge, a six-burner stove, a large oven, and a dishwasher. Bedrooms are spacious and have excellent heating; sheets and duvets on the beds kept us plenty warm.

We had a lovely weekend there with a group of parents and children. It’s an old farmhouse, but well maintained, with lots of grounds and a pool overlooking the mountains. We’d seen negative comments about the owner in other reviews, but he was respectful and attentive with us. The house is well equipped, and it’s a nice place to get away from civilization.
