The food is simple, but delicious, straight from the garden and served with love. They also make their own wine, a real find in the region, light and easy to drink while still complex. The home and this lovely part of the world are a hidden gem, and the host is wonderful.

They had a crib ready for our baby, and breakfast was all homemade, including cake, doughnuts, and jam. Everything tasted delicious. We were sharing the living room and jacuzzi bathroom with another room, though that room was empty, and there was free Wi-Fi. The owners welcomed us in the evening and made us dinner after we told them we were coming late. They were attentive throughout and let us try the wine they make and bottle themselves, which they're very proud of. We were driving from Cadiz to Barcelona with a baby and chose this rural guesthouse for an overnight stop halfway. We couldn't fit in the tour and tasting about how they make their wines, which was a shame. I left with a very good impression and would like to return for longer.

The village is tiny, reached by a small road through vineyards and fields, and Cuenca is only 95 km away. Nearby there are interesting places to see, including Alarcón and Villahermosa de la Jara. We spent a weekend at the country house, and from my first contact the service was excellent. The atmosphere was relaxed, a real break from everyday life. The old-world house is well preserved, with a museum and winery that they show you around patiently. The food is excellent, all homemade and local, and the wine was a highlight. I highly recommend it for a few quiet days, lovely scenery, and a chance to disconnect.

We've been three times already and are heading back for a weekend in November. The place is quiet and cozy, and the service is so friendly. Each time we go, we bring back wine, jam, and jelly.

We felt right at home, and it was a very pleasant stay. It's in Casas de Santa Cruz rather than Villanueva de la Jara, though they're very close. We'll definitely be back.
