Hotel Rural La Corte

A lovely spot for an overnight stay, even though it feels like it's in the middle of nowhere.

I slept really well here. The place is spotless, the beds are very comfortable, and the peaceful scenery is beautiful. It felt like being back in the village and at home, in a traditional country house. Getting to the bedrooms means using stairs, so it may not suit someone with mobility problems; ask whether another option is available. The living room is lovely, with a hallway. Meals are served by walking around the house, and breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all delicious. Everyone was very friendly. I'd definitely come back.

Dinner starts at 9:00 PM, and the menu is extensive. The servings are generous, the food is delicious, and the prices are very reasonable. Booking through the hotel website also came with coffee and toast for breakfast, a welcome bonus. The village is tiny and easy to walk around, with hiking trails and paths nearby. Livestock farming is how almost everyone there makes a living, so cows in the streets are a normal sight. We stayed here while visiting Somiedo and were glad we chose it. Soraya was warm and helpful when she welcomed us at the bar/restaurant, handed over the room key, and explained everything clearly. The dogs greeted us at the entrance and later guided us through Villar de Vildas. In the late afternoon we read on the sofas in the lovely lounge, then had breakfast on the veranda. Our room was cozy and warm, with everything we needed and its own bathroom. It could perhaps do with a little updating, though finding certain things in such an isolated place can be difficult. The bathroom was very good, with strong water pressure and just the right temperature, especially with 5°C outside in November. The whole experience was well worth it, and we’d recommend the place 100%. Many thanks to Soraya, and we hope to return someday.

The Booking.com location is wrong. It claims the place is 12km from the ski resort, but it actually takes an hour and a half to get there. Apart from that, the service was excellent, the food delicious, and the scenery beautiful.
