We had booked three adults, but there were only two bath towels. When we left, there was nobody around to speak with, and the restaurant was closed, so we couldn’t eat there. I can’t imagine a situation where I’d return. We had emailed the day before and received a reply, yet it seemed they’d forgotten we were coming. The hosts were occupied with a publicity photo shoot, and we felt in the way. We appreciated the free drinks, but the problems in the property afterwards spoiled that gesture. Some staff and family members tried to be hospitable at first, but we weren’t properly shown around or told how to reach the pool or use the equipment. Once we started noticing issues in the room, we couldn’t find anyone to talk to. The room had no Wi-Fi, despite the listing we used saying it was available. The air-conditioning remote didn’t work, its batteries were old and damaged, and I suspect the remote itself may have been damaged. The stove either didn’t work or had no instructions, so we had to heat water in the microwave and couldn’t cook a meal. There was no kettle, though that’s common in Spain. Without a shower curtain, water flooded the bathroom. A broken tile with sharp edges by the kitchen door was a safety hazard, and the inside of the fridge door was badly damaged and looked horrible. The plates were dirty, with food still stuck on them, including a piece of Serrano ham. The pot I tried to use for boiling water was dirty too and needed washing. The dishwashing materials in the kitchen were disgusting and needed replacing. The toilet cistern stuck twice, once failing to refill and once refusing to flush.

The design was the only thing we liked. We tried the menu del dia, but portions were rather small, and my salad had so much vinegar it seemed more like soup. The staff didn’t speak even Spanish, or at least it seemed they refused to.

Lunch outdoors among the trees and greenery is a lovely part of this beautiful place, near a monastery that’s worth visiting. The food is good and the prices are reasonable.

The restaurant is in an ideal countryside setting for spending some time. We had great food and service at a very reasonable price. We’ll definitely come again!
